MIDI Week Singles: "Sunny Day" - The Elder Scrolls: Arena (PC)

"Sunny Day" from The Elder Scrolls: Arena on the PC (1994)
Composer: Eric Heberling
Album: No Official Soundtrack Release
Developer: Bethesda Softworks

My reason for using "Sunny Day" for today's song is purely superficial, in that it is a sunny day here in the Portlandia region with nary a cloud in the sky, with the temperature aiming upwards of 80° F or 26.67 ° C for you metric fans out there (the rest of the world).  And because it is so much of a sunny day, I felt that this song would be appropriate, even if you live in a region where the average spring temperature is in the high 80s.

Now, I have played all the way through The Elder Scrolls: Arena and one of the more frequent overworld songs to play was this one, and I genuinely have fond memories of this song coming on after wandering/trudging my way through a dungeon and having it not be night time out (which typically meant more wandering monster attacks).  Which is kind of interesting since the only way to get anywhere in the game was to fast travel since the world was procedurally generated. But, the music also played while you were in-town, so those were the other instances that the song popped up, except when you entered a building when it was light outside then overcast when you came back out; again, procedurally generated, but at least the game remained consistent when it came to seasons of the year.

But for me, this song brings a lot of (more or less) fond memories playing this early DOS game.  I still have yet to work my way through Daggerfall which has a lot of the same music (as well as extended and revamped versions) since it was also composed by Mr. Heberling.  So enjoy the sun out there (what is left of it anyway).
