I've been listening to the Link's Awakening soundtrack lately, and boy, that's a great soundtrack! All the more impressive for having been composed for the gameboy's limited sound processor. There are many standout tracks, but I decided to run with this track for three reasons.
First, it's an exciting, upbeat, adventure track, a style I enjoy. Second, it's a cool variation on the Zelda theme, retaining the intro notes and general excitement, while heading in a different and fun direction. Third, it makes great use of the gameboy's tonal range without ever spilling into ear-grating territory.
I have a love-hate relationship with the beep-boop sounds of the gameboy, and there are many great tracks on the Link's Awakening soundtrack that are a little hard to listen to because some of the tones just plain hurt. But not this one! Enjoy.
