"Triceratops" from Gunman Clive 2 on the 3DS, and PC
Composer: Arne Hörberg
Label: Self Released / Band Camp
Developer: Hörberg Productions
It wasn't until this morning that I realized that one of the reasons why I had such a positive reaction to this song was partly because it was the song that was used in the Nintendo eShop trailer. Also, apparently I have a thing for songs involving the Triceratops?
This beginning of "Triceratops" uses the same finger picking that was used in "Cowboy in Town" from the first Gunman Clive, although here it is more developed, faster and perhaps a little more manic; but manic in a good way? What I feel about "Triceratops" is that it takes the feeling from "Cowboy in Town" and cranks it up to 11, except that in Gunman Clive 2, this track is used while Clive, Ms. Johnson, or Chieftain Bob is in the stage where you ride a Triceratops. Why are you riding a Triceratops? Because if you don't then you'll be run down by the enemy cowboys riding Dromaeosaurus (because we all know that the Jurassic Park Velociraptors were too large) or you'll die from floor spikes a la Mega Man.
Okay, went off topic again because Dinosaurs are just that awesome. But I feel that this song encapsulates Gunman Clive 2 ever so slightly more than the semi-main theme track, "Cowboy Back in Town" but it could also be that I've just listened to "Triceratops" more than "Cowboy Back in Town." The point is, this is a great track from composer Arne Hörberg and I am hoping that he writes more music for either Hörberg Productions or is hired by another company because I would love to hear more of what he comes up with.
