We are here for a couple of reasons.

  1. I returned to Runner2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien (aka BIT.TRIP RUNNER2 or just Runner2) over the weekend while looking through the games that are deemed "Verified" on the Steam Deck and realized that I never actually beat this game because it is a goddamn pain in the ass; even more so than the first or third games, at least in my opinion.
  2. The music in this game and series is something special that I always find entertaining.
  3. "Whetfahrt Cheesefunk" is a hilarious name for a song, taken from the character of Whetfahrt Cheesebörger in the same game.

Now, I am not a person who could say whether or not "Whetfahrt Cheesefunk" is indeed funk and/or if it contains any or enough elements to be considered funk.  Let alone how the song develops in-stage while you play is kind of up to the player in how many obstacles you actively avoid or engage with, how many gold bars you pick up, and how many power-ups you pick up which further increases the complexity of the song until you get to the EXTRA power-up and then the music takes a chiller vibe until you finish the stage.  So even "Whetfahrt Cheesefunk" could be considerably less funky if you do not get any power-ups and/or avoid as much of the stage as possible; and the stages in The Supernature are definitely where I decided that I was going to focus on passing the stage and not trying to 100% the base-level stages (to say nothing about the alternate routes and hidden items throughout almost every stage).
